Fashion feature: Emerson Spring 2013
Now in her third season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, designer Jackie Fraser-Swan has proved her talent, with another fresh, fun and highly wearable collection for her label Emerson.
While in the past, Fraser-Swan created pieces that offered plenty of options for the girl wanting to add a little edginess to her wardrobe, the Spring 2013 collection was packed with edge amped to a whole new level.
The unusual inspiration for the collection, 1970's horror films, such as Carrie, Burnt Offerings and Amityville Horror mixed with modern cinematic offerings like Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, was evident in every piece with subtle details that clued the viewer in that something sinister lay just beneath the surface.
Stark black and white baby doll dresses paired with leather jackets and sheer black knee socks tangled with 70's inspired electric blue peplums, dramatic dresses in indigo 'rope' prints and jaw-dropping gowns in blood red lace. The overall effect? Divinely evil, and definitely (blood) lust-worthy!
