Fashion feature: Osklen Spring 2013
Tropical, yet at the same time ultra-modern , the Osklen Spring 2013 collection portrayed a point of view not seen on any other runway this week. It was fun and summery with a serious nostalgic beach vibe, but also underlying, almost foreboding edge. To put it simply, it was just plain cool.
Silky, transparent palms tree and hibiscus flower prints flowed effortlessly next to long and lean dresses in bold tropical hues, and a series of cape-like coats made from what appeared to be high-grade burlap.
Leather neckstraps, body con dresses and hard-edged bodices made from that same perplexing "burlap" brought added just a subtle touch of dominatrix to the collection, which served to subvert the feel away from traditional Hawaiiana for an effect that was sexy, and just disconcerting enough to be devilishly fun.
