Fall 2012 trend report: Into the deep blue sea

The colors of fall fashion are often based on those we see in nature come September, October, and November. Whether it be the changing leaves or the appearance of pumpkins on doorsteps every year designers and editors get together and declare that seasonality is what you need in your wardrobe.

But lets get real for a second, shall we? Not everyone loves a chocolate-brown coat, and despite what the glossy mags tell you orange is not an ideal color for everyone. (Ed note: especially those of us with dyed pink, blue, or purple hair!) That's why we loved the handful of designers who broke from the expected seasonal tonality and went for bright, bold blue tones as the must have hue for fall.

Some of our favorite takes on the seas inspired trend included: Operatic cobalt gowns at Bibhu Mohapatra, Psychedelic body con blue looks at Joy Cioci, Frontier woman prints in dusty indigo at Band of Outsiders, Nautical navy and gold at Karen Walker, and the rhapsody of bohemian blue toned looks at Anna Sui.
