The retro-with a twist trend that started cropping up in street style blogs over the summer, gets a big fashion upgrade as major labels and indie designers alike bring color, technology and a modern vibe to vintage inspired oxfords, saddle shoes and a variety of lace-up styles.  Seen on the runways at everyone from Marc Jacobs, to Libertine (shown above) the modern oxford goes way beyond flat men's wear inspired street looks and now has flash and flare via huge heels and hidden platforms.

Additionally, the widespread popularity of the look means there is a lace-up for every budget from $39-$500.

But the best part about Fall's lace-up trend? These looks have real fashion longevity, as lace-up retro looks continued to populate the Spring 2012 runways at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week last month. Meaning value-concious fashion fans can buy lace-ups now, and happily wear them for several seasons to come.
