There's just something about polka dots. Whether it's the innocence of childhood they recall via Minnie Mouse and toddler rompers, or the sense of nostalgia they bring forth with their popularity in mid-century modern design, it's difficult not to smile when faced with those irresistibly bubbly spots. And so, breaking into a wide grin was the exact reaction experienced when stepping into the spot-centric Callula Lillibelle Spring 2012 presentation.

Light-hearted with tons of whimsy, the collection also contained a sharp wit, as the 'dots' were explored in a variety of clever ways such as nature's version (those found on the backs of leopards) to tech-advanced (a deconstructed version that almost resembled lines of computer code.) Adding additional charm to the collection this time around, were a series of brightly colored nubby clutches that appeared to also be constructed entirely from small 'dots' of fabric sewn together. These elements worked together wonderfully to give cohesion without being too matchy-matchy;making it easy to imagine women everywhere wanting to incorporate the body of the collection into their wardrobes.

Accessibility to the 'every-woman' is something William Calvert and Melanie Fraser Hart, the design team behind Callula Lillibelle, have consistently kept in the forefront of their work since the line launched in Fall of 2010. Great design, that flatters a variety of figures, at moderate price point has been the hallmark of their creations season after season. Nowhere was this more clearly defined then by the designers themselves when Style Wylde spoke to William and Melanie via e-mail just days before the presentation, and they explained their inspiration for the Callula Lillibelle Spring 2012 as:
