Fashion Feature: Iris van Herpen Spring 2012

Insectile exoskeletons and deep sea creatures are not usually the first things that come to mind when viewing images from the runways. But those were indeed the first thoughts  to spring forth at first glance at the Iris van Herpen Spring 2012 collection which debuted in Berlin on Friday.

Dan and Corinna Lecca/Getty EuropeWith an obvious nod to the late master of avant-garde Alexander McQueen, van Herpen's pieces defied gravity with bone-like construction used to created winged arms and exaggerated hips.

The eyes in these pictures give me the creeps, but I love those museum-worthy shapes! Berlin looks amazing--thanks for covering it, SW!

I agree with Curated--the styles from Berlin look awesome. I can't wait to see if we see any influence from it at the US shows this year.
