Norman Ambrose Fall 2011: Hollywood day dream

Miles of sequins, furs, and ultra-luxe sweaters seemed to swirl around the Box at Lincoln Center when the Norman Ambrose Fall 2011 presentation debuted. The collection, which was the first ever at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for the Tiburon born, San Francisco Academy of Art educated designer, was easily one of the most "Hollywood" of the entire week. Its silhouettes recalled images of Faye Dunaway meets Greta Garbo in a fantastic mash-up of 1930s glamour puss and 1970's party girl looks.

Divided, like two families in a theatrical drama, "Day" and "Evening" looks faced off in a sparkle-encrusted show down for dominance, causing fashion press and photographers in attendance to furiously race back and forth across the room attempting to capture the mood and energy of it all.
