Thursday evening at the San Francisco Design Center the main hall was filled with friends, family, alumni, and members of the local fashion industry as students from San Francisco State University unveiled their Spring 2011 runway show, aptly named Enchantment. A multi-faceted event, Enchantment included dance, music, fashion, and a charity raffle benefiting Visions of La Moda, a non-profit organization that works to aid and inspire low income and at risk youth by enhancing their knowledge of the fashion industry.
From the moment the show began with a student choreographed performance it was clear that the audience, which included SFSU alumni and Project Runway contestant Christopher Collins, was indeed enchanted by the energy, enthusiasm, and talent so obviously present in the room.
image:S.Whittle for Style WyldeAlthough all 23 students who participated in the show showed great promise and had individual stand-out looks within their collections, it was the futuristic orange gladiator looks in Jack Lim's collection titled Terracotta (pictured left), the delicately pleated dresses in Jessica Bovert's Mare (pictured right) and the clever wedding gown with a snap-off skirt in Kathryn Ryder's Nuptiale (pictured below) that remained on our minds long after the show had finished.
