TOMS and Tobi.com bring charitable style to SF

Whether wiggling our toes in our well worn converse, or having a Carrie Bradshaw moment, for most of us SHOES are a major source of fashion joy. Wedges or pumps, flats or boots they give our souls (and soles) an uplifting boost on the drabbest of days.

But for many children around the world, shoes aren't something you buy for a pick-me up, they are a life giving necessity that facilitates everything from obtaining medical care to attending school.  Lack of shoes, which in underdeveloped countries is sadly the norm, means long walks on unpaved roads and over contaminated soil exposes children to injury and disease, and in some cases plays a major part in the adolescence  mortality rates.

In May of 2006, recognizing the need for protective footwear in remote underdeveloped areas of the world, Blake Mycoskie launched TOMS shoes, a footwear company that donates one pair of shoes to children in need for every single pair sold.  Now three years after launching TOMS has donated over 140,000 pairs of shoes to children worldwide and has an end-of 2009 goal of giving 300,000 pairs.

This Saturday, August 29th from 1-6PM, San Francisco shoppers have the opportunity to help TOMS meet their year end goal, as   locally based fashion e-tailer Tobi joins forces with TOMS to host a one-of-a-kind fashion event at Hayes Valley's Azalea.

Dubbed the "Style Your Sole Party" the event will give attendees the opportunity to work with in-house designers and artists to design and  create their very own one-of a kind Toms shoes.  Art materials supplied by Tobi.com, creative inspiration and philanthropic spirit supplied by you.

For more information visit www.tobi.com and check back with Style Wylde on Sunday for photos from the event.
