Runway Beauty Report: Miu Miu Spring 2012

Creating  the perfect runway look for one of the world's biggest brands is no easy task. Even if you have years of experience and you can name nearly every major label on the planet as a client, as can Guido Palau, creative consultant for Redken, and mastermind behind the runway hair for Miu Miu Spring 2012, the pressure is enormous.  But luckily for the brand, Palau proved once again at the Paris show last month why he is the go-to stylist for runway with a sleek, done-yet-undone look that was thoroughly fresh and modern.

“At Miu Miu today, we’re replicating this new type of texture that we’ve seen a lot of this season. Miu Miu is Prada’s “little sister” so we used a similar texture seen in Milan at Prada as a reference for today. The hair is down with a few waves in the front and in the back – it’s finished with Redken’s forceful 23 so you know there’s something in it. "

DIY at home:

To create the soft natural looking waves and clean middle part  apply Velvet Gelatine 07 Cushioning Blow-Dry Gel to damp hair and rough-dry (that means get the water out but don't worry about smoothing out any cowlicks or waves).  While the hair is still warm from the blow dryer pull hair into a pony right at the lower-back of your head where your skull curves out before joining your neck. Leave your hair in the pony for 15 minutes or more until it is completely cool. In the front, create a center part and push bangs slightly forward while tucking sides behind ears to create a soft face-framing scallop shape. Finally finish everything with Redken Force 23 Hairspray to give hair a hard, stiff and edgy look.
