Backstage beauty: Ruffian Fall 2014

The final beauty look was high drama/image:C.Hope for Style Wylde

Breaking with the recent standard of "undone" or "naked" beauty and hair, the Pro-teams from TIGI Creatives and MAC created an ultra glam, "Uptown girl" look for Ruffian Fall 2014.

Here's what they did, starting with that gorgeous  hair.

"It's a very expensive look, definitely not downtown at all, it's very uptown.TIGI Global Creative Director Nick Irwin told Style Wylde  backstage before the show.

To get this ultra- glam look Irwin and his team created a voluminous blow out, with hair off the face and "blown back" at the crown, with a soft under curl along the edge of hair. They began by misting hair with Your Highness Root Boost Spray and then blowing out with a large round brush for a super smooth finish. Next, they divided hair into four sections and sprayed each section with TIGI Catwalk Sessions Series Hairspray. Then, using a large barrel curling iron,  they curled hair under at the nape of the neck and pinned in place with small silver clips.

After hair had completely cooled, clips were removed and ends were brushed smooth. As a final step the team finger-scrunched ends to create natural movement (no helmet hair here!) and finished with a final mist of TIGI Catwalk Session Series Hairspray.

Now on to the beauty.

"We are doing a very opulent, very cosmetic look today." MAC Key artist James Kaliardos told Style Wylde as he worked on a model backstage.  "Foundation, eye liner, eye shadow, lipstick, contouring, it's a full on make-up look, I think of it as Estee Lauder 1975." Kalidardos explained.

"It's actually really beautiful, we are using these deep tones, like this new blush Flirt and Tease by MAC, and contouring the eye with Brun and then using this new color Stony on the lid, and then this new shiny finish shadow Electric Cool. Then, we are using this new eye liner call Evil Twin, which is a deep purple to give the look even more depth.  For the lip we are using burgundy lip pencil, and this beautiful new red Crushed Cranberry on top of it."

Last but not least, the nails!

Designed by Ruffian duo Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, this season's Ruffian nail art (which will be available on Birchbox) incorporated a dark "lunar eclipse" inspired orb on a metallic base.  "We are very excited about this concept, of a dark moon rising in the night sky. It comes in a trio of metallics inspired by the old Flemish masters, who used colors like Rose, Gold, and Silver." the pair said.
