Backstage beauty: Timo Weiland Spring 2012
For the Timo Weiland Spring 2012 collection, which oozed hipster cool with a laid back East Coast meets the tropics vibe, hair had to be as relaxed and unbothered as the clothes themselves. Nothing too fussy or overly 'done' would do, so design duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein sought out the help of celebrity stylist and product guru Ouidad to create the perfect coif for the collection. No stranger to the effortless chic look herself (not to mention a mega-pioneer in the naturally curly hair market) Ouidad came up with the concept of a modern chignon: loose, carefree but still undeniably pretty, like the Timo Weiland girl herself.
Here's how it was done:
In order to execute the loose sexy, unfussy chignons, Ouidad began with Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel to calm frizzies and fly-aways. (Ed. Note: it has to be mentioned, the weather in New York during fashion week was unbearably hot and humid, witnessing the smoothing effect of the Climate Control Gel on the model's hair in those conditions was nothing short of amazing!)
Next, hair was pulled into a loose bun at the nape of the neck and secured with bobby pins and a light spray of Ouidad Styling Mist. From there, buns were twisted up into a modern chignon, or French twist shape and given another light mist to give the look staying power without getting sticky.
The Result: A perfect relaxed runway style that can easily be done at home, or on the go!
