Get it while it's hot
August is here, and stores all over the Bay Area and online will be wheeling out the back-to-school stock. Even if you are happily post-grad the urge to stock up on the newest cashmere and wool styles can be strong, but we suggest you hold off on the cold weather stuff, and check out the wealth of summer merchandise getting red-lined and reduced. After all, in our weather microcosm the hottest days still lie ahead.
Derek Lam Slim Jeans/ Image via Shop BopDerek Lam Slim Jeans Originally $450, now $225 at ShopBop.com. Derek Lam is not known as a bargain-brand but these not-too skinny, dark wash jeans have a fashion durability that makes the sale price down-right doable. We appreciate the designers rejection of the tattered, whiskered and throughly trashed finishes that have dominated denim over the last few months, and are hoping everyone else will take notice and follow suit.
Mini Market Jacket in Black/Image via AcrimonyMini Market Jacket Originally $355, now $235 at Hayes Valley's Acrimony. A light weight jacket with a classic shape that can be dressed up or down is always key piece, and for the San Francisco's days of Fall where hot days and 30 degree colder nights are the norm, its a stylish layering essential.
Coral Way Dress/Image via AnthropologieCoral Way Dress , Originally $188, now $89.95 at Anthropologie. The vintage inspired print and universally flattering line of this summer sundress is not only timeless, but seasonless in a subtle color palette that doesn't scream SPRING, or shout 2009! This is one that will work now, and for months to come.
Prarie Underground Dress/Image via Beklina Prairie Underground dress, Original $210, now $90 at Santa Cruz's eco-chic online boutique Beklina. Soft styling in organic cotton jersey makes this a great sundress to throw in your bag for a Labor-day weekend get away ( because white after labor day is the new do) or for next-year's summer vacation.
