A not so silent weekend

Friday:
SF: We start at The Independent has the first of two nights for Soullive featuring Karl Denson with their take on 70's R&B and soul. Also kicking off a day two stay are Ozomatli as they take over The Fillmore with their worldy sounds. Out in the Mission at KnockOut SF you have a chance to catch local up and comers Magic Bullets plus The Lambs. Also in the Mission at El Rio will be Sea of Bees, Sands, and Walking in Sunlight. Across town on Polk Street at Red Devil Lounge are Fake Your Own Death plus Blood and Sunshine, Midnight Strangers, and Public Jones.
Down at Mighty, the sounds of IDM take over with Nosaj Thing plus Jel, Polymer Drone, La Luka, My Pet Monster, and Of Nazareth. At Rickshaw Stop it's time for the Two Kinds of Stupid holiday party featuring performances by K.Flay and Tigercat.
Saturday:
SF: DJ Spinna and Wonder-full 7 SF return to Mezzanine for another tribute to the music of Stevie Winder. Thrash metal returns to DNA Lounge with Forbidden plus Evile, Gama Bomb, Bonded By Blood, and Fog of War. At Thee Parkside are local sci-fi pop punk outfit The Phenomenauts with Neutralboy and Murderland. There's more punk at Bottom of the Hill with Voodoo Glow Skulls, Jokes For Feelings, and Rockfight. At Hemlock Tavern are Shannon and the Clams, The Night Beats, and Outlaw and Hotel Utah has an EP release party for The Resurrection Men plus Sol and Shadows Edge.
East Bay: In Berkeley at 924 Gilman are tribute bands Black Fag and The Remones plus PLan 9, Guantanamo Dogpile, and MC Meathook and the Vital Organs. At Starry Plough are Sioux City Kid, Coyote Grace, and Old Jawbone. In Oakland at The New Parish is keyboardist Melvin Seals with the Jerry Garcia Band. At The Uptown is a slight departure with a night of downtempo electronica featuring Sidecar Tommy plus DJ Kentinium and Knowa Knowone NastyNasty.
