Eclectic mix of music and djs headline Bay Area venues

Whether it's psychedelic, blue grass, punk, or experimental the San Francisco Bay Area has been a home base to some of music's most innovative bands and record labels. This weekend we are checking out the bands and DJs who are changing the sound of music around the globe.

Friday in SF:

In a genre that is often populated with computer programs and technology based sound, San Francisco based Neurovoltaic Orchestra is creating a sensation with their own brand of electronica, created with acoustic instruments. Don't miss this innovative act headlining  Kimo's Bar and Penthouse Lounge with One Way Station and Wally Cutthroat Duo. $9 no advance ticket sales.

Friday in the East Bay:

With an infectious blend of punk, soul, and big band local favorites Damon and The Heathens have been packing houses around the Bay Area for years. Tonight they join forces with Southern California's equally innovative garage/soul act The Bellrays  and surf punk rockers Jonny Manak and the Depressives at Oakland's The Uptown. Doors at 9pm. $10 at the door or online via Ticket Web.

Saturday in SF:

Dance/Electronic DJ phenoms, Scooter and Lavelle have made a huge impact on the party scene in recent years with their diverse blend of dance, house, hip hop, and pop. This Saturday the pair mans the system at Vessel for a not-to-be missed party extravaganza. RSVP to the Guest list here to insure entry.

Also in SF on Saturday:

When it comes to influential San Francisco DJs, it's tough to argue that anyone has had more wide-spread influence than Mash-Up masters Adrian and the Mysterious D. Come see the pair do their thing at Bootie, the once monthly club held at the legendary DNA Lounge. This month Bootie is all about PRIDE, and will include The Monster Show, a live Drag Queen Mash-Up Show featuring: Steven Satyricon, Gillette, Drake, Kitty Tapata, Aurora Switchblade, Sandra O., Noshi- D'In'T, Dean Disaster, Twinkletoes McGee, and Bay Are Flash Mob. $8 before 10PM, $15 after.

Saturday in the East Bay:

Never ones to follow the 80's synthpop trend, Bay Area based Felsen are bringing classic rock back with their organic guitar driven sound. Check out these local ones-to-watch as they take the stage at Berkeley's Starry Plough with  their Bay Area brethren Halsted featuring Ryan Auffenberg and Blue Skies for Black Hearts. Doors at 8:30PM $10.

Also in the East Bay on Saturday:

Oakland's legendary outpost for all ages shows, The Stork Club hosts an indie/emo/organic rock line up with  Sister Grizzly, Sad and French, Brick Factory, and The Third Victim of Abigail Rutledge. 10PM
