Weekend round-up: live local music rocks between big festivals

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass is now a memory, and The Treasure Island Music festival is still a week away but in the Bay Area live music doesn't wait for the next big mainstream event to come around. That's why this weekend we recommend catching up with local bands that may not be drawing crowds from all over the state just yet, but are certain to go big time in the future, because what's more fun than being able to brag that you saw that band way-back-when.

San Francisco based up and comers The Trophy Fire, and The Bruises take the stage with Berkeley's Bird by Bird, at Bottom of the Hill for a not-to-be-missed night of local electro-indie rock and roll.Doors at 8:30 $10 online or at the door gets you all three bands plus late night stylings of DJ Biscuit.
