Whether you are into 1990's nostalgia or post-modern punk there is a whole lot of music happening around the bay this weekend including:
Tonight: If you're into your DJ's there are two places to be tonight. Legendary House producer and DJ Satoshi Tomiie is going to be at Vessel in Union Square and London's mashup queen Annie Mac is at Popscene with The Dead Souls.
Friday: Starting in SF you hopefully won't have to walk 500 miles to go and see The Proclaimers all the way from Scotland at Bottom of the Hill who will be ably supported by Pants Pants Pants. At Cafe Du Nord you can catch tribute bands This Charming Band (A tribute to The Smiths) and Erasure-esque. Also in the City you can catch Montreal's Kid Koala at The Independent. Across the Bay in Oakland, it's time to revisit the early 90's as MC Hammer and Whodini land at the Fox Theater.
Saturday: In SF we start at Bottom of the Hill with Telefon Tel Aviv, The Race, and Cloud Archive. At the Cat Club you'll find New Wave vs. Nu Grave as Popscene mingles with Club Temptation. Back at the Fox in Oakland you can catch Latin pop superstar Paulina Rubio. Also in Oakland, the Stork Club has The Down Falls, Starring Morgan Freeman, and The Chop and at the Uptown you'll find The Zoopy Show with The Nosebleed Academy and Jellyfish Kiss.
Sunday: If you're looking for an excuse for a Sunday night out, pop down to the Hemlock Tavern for some experimental sounds from Didimao, Swahili, and Santa Sangre or head to the Hotel Utah to see Shake Well and Moetar.
