Scene in San Francisco: Gramm designer makes SF debut
Designer Z8 (prounced Zi-an) of the Japanese label Gramm brought her collection to the US for the first time on Monday evening for a special instore event in San Francisco. Held in the h. Naoto boutique at San Francisco's New People World building, the event featured pieces from both the Gramm clothing and accessories collections, as well as a looped video from the recent Anime Next runway show in New Jersey.
A sibling label to the hyper popular h.Naoto and Gouk lines, Gramm has carved a space for itself in the avant-garde fashion realm with its fairytale-inspired styles that incorporate exquisite layers of lace and folkloric silhouettes with a modern sensibility.
The designer's many local fans, almost all of whom were draped in looks from recent Gramm collections, came out for the event to shop the collection and meet the designer herself; a rare treat for any fashion fan.
Flipping through the racks ourselves during the event, it was easy to see why the collection has so many loyal fans around the world, the looks were creative, whimsical, and impeccably constructed with a keen eye for making them wearable on a variety of body shapes.
