Scene in Tokyo: Harajuku Fashion Walk Part 2

On Sunday, March 23 Tokyo's Harajuku neighborhood was the site of a one-of-a-kind street style event, The Harajuku Fashion Walk. Today we continue with some of our favorite shots from the event.

To check out images from Part 1 of  our coverage go here.

We began at meeting point, just outside the Harajuku train station, where a group of young fashionistas were gathering to show off their best street style.

A small number of the participants had come to Tokyo from other parts of the world, some to study, some to work, but all came to enjoy and participate in the local fashion scene.

The walk was not just about "peacocking" it's also a great opportunity for the participants to make new friends, discuss fashion, and even work on their own fashion-photography projects!

Just after 2PM, when everyone had arrived it was time for the actual 'walk' to get underway.   The group wound its way through the back streets of Harajuku heading for the small plaza that served as the break-point.

At times, because the streets along the Walk-route were very narrow, passersby and even cars were incorporated into the event!

Of course this amazingly vibrant and imaginative fashion-spectacle attracted A LOT of attention from tourists, some who tagged along snapping photos, and some who just watched, slack-jawed and apparently awe-struck.
