Summer sneakers, which retro style are you?

Blame it on the banking crisis, and a general desire to ‘get back to basics’, or blame it fashion’s tendency to retread old styles, but everything is coming up retro these days, and sporty summer shoes are no exception.

But faced with an onslaught of 1980’s retro-high tops, like these $80 Pumas or these $75 Reeboks neither of which have a long-fashion shelf life, I reach for another “classic” with style, flair and just a little bit of punk attitude.

Converse Chuck Taylors of course! Easily found at discount shops DSW or online at Zappos these comfortable cotton and rubber shoes come in a variety of styles, a variety of colors and almost always have a price tag below $40.

My chucks (pictured above) have been my go-to comfy shoe for years and will continue to have a prime space in my closet for years to come.
