Fashion feature: the new guard

However, with each new season at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York, young, and independently minded designers are proving they have just as much to offer as the household names.

Some like Prabal Gurung and Bibhu Mohapatra have already grown out of the 'New Guard' category via major celebrity clients such as First Lady Michelle Obama, and a host of A-List actress. Others are still leading the charge in the underground scene,  bringing their wildly unique and varied points of view to slightly lesser crowds but to ever-growing fashion critic acclaim.
