We tried it out: Almay Wake Up Hydrating Make-Up

We love mineral make-up as much as you do, but in colder months when wind and chill make our skins painfully dry we often have to opt out of mineral formulas in favor of old-school liquid foundations to prevent clumping, and chunking up on our parched foreheads and cheeks.

So when Almay introduced a "hydration" mineral make-up we were intrigued, if not totally convinced that it would perform as advertised, so we picked up a bottle and gave it to two SW volunteers to try out.

SW volunteer one: 30 something editor with dry/sensitive skin.

Result: Loved it. The cool wet-feeling as it went on made the easily irritated skin feel more comfortable, and the extra light formula looked fresh and natural, and didn't sink into fine lines, even without a primer.

SW volunteer two: 20 something contributor with normal to sometimes oily in the t-zone skin.

Result: Mixed. Although the cooling sensation was appreciated our younger staffer felt the coverage was to minimal, did not hide blemishes, and would work better as a finishing powder than as mineral make-up replacement.

Almay Wake Up Hydrating Make-Up is available at drugstores nationwide for about $10.
