We tried it: Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder

image:C.Hope for Style Wylde

Traveling to fashion weeks can be a serious beauty buster. From early morning pre-show backstage interviews to late night after parties, staying pretty can be a serious challenge. So when Laura Mercier asked me to try out their new foundation powder that promised to be smoothing, long lasting and fast to apply I jumped at the chance.

Here are my results:

As instructed on the package I applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Foundation Powder to a DRY* face, using a light 'blotting on' technique. It evened out my slight rosacea -ridden cheeks like a champ and left my skin looking fresh and clean. But the coverage was VERY light, so any blemishes and dark circles (the latter of which I always have during fashion week) were still noticeable.

So I went for the suggested heavier application, and dampened the sponge for a second swipe. This took a little bit of practice, as my heavy handedness made it clump slightly on the cheeks, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to achieve a porcelain-smooth look quickly and easily and it lasted a full day with out sinking into lines or smudging off. Added bonus, the color I tested (01)  had a very faint yellow tone that counter-acted redness like a champ.

End result: Awesome and super easy for light coverage, a little tricky, but definitely worth getting the hang of for medium-to-full coverage.
