We tried it : Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System

Style Wylde Editor Cynthia put Clarisonic's new Opal Sonic Infusion System to the test with a serious case of eyebags and sleep-deprived dark circles, here is how it all went down:

There are eye bags, and then there are EYE BAGS. The kind I was sporting on the 5th straight day of no sleep during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in February were definitely the all caps kind. These bags, and the sad dark circles that surrounded them, were so pronounced that the hour I spent that morning before heading to the tents trying every cooling, deflating, and hyper moisturizing product on my poor tired eyes had little or no benefit. But duty, and a backstage pass to cover hair and make-up at the Lela Rose Fall 2011 collection called, so I had no choice but to take my eye bags in stride and head out, regardless of how bedraggled I felt.

To my delight, when I arrived at Lincoln Center the Lela Rose models were in the middle of a run through, and as we had time to kill, a friendly rep from Clarisonic offered to demonstrate their new eye-bag busting Opal Sonic Infusion System on my over-the-top bags and circles; an offer I wouldn't dream of refusing.

Here's how the it worked:

Serious bags need Clarisonic/Image: S. Whittle for Style Wylde

First she filled the Clarisonic Opal with the Anti-Aging Sea Serum. Then she began gently rotating the opal device over the affected area of my eye, staying close to bone surrounding the socket, and far from the lash line.  We did it right over the concealer and foundation I was wearing, as I wasn't in love with the idea of completely washing my face backstage, but normally you'd start with clean skin.

It felt very odd at first partly due to the sonic vibration which "breaks" up the fluid congestion around the eye, and partly because this was being done in a very crowded back stage area with tons of bloggers and photographers watching. But, after a couple of seconds, I could really feel it working. My eyes felt refreshed, almost as if I had put drops in, they were less itchy and even that stubborn dehydrated, (ok, slightly hung-over) headache I'd had since waking up seemed to ease.

30 seconds after we started the first eye, the second eye was treated, and this time it didn't feel weird at all, it just felt like a huge relief. There is definitely something about the vibration that is super relaxing, and I no longer cared about the bloggers and photographers watching our little experiment.

When it was done, everyone backstage oohhed and aahhed at the results. I saw a marked reduction in dark circles and  puffiness, and a miraculous reduction in dry, itchy eyeball discomfort.  But as I had a full day of interviews, shoots, and shows I didn't really get a chance to closely examine the results until...

6 Hours Later, back at the hotel, I was shocked. Not only were the bags still banished, but the area around my eyes still looked brighter, unlike the death-warmed over darkness that made an appearance every evening around 5PM.

The Verdict: The Clarisonic Opal Sonic Infusion System delivers on the de-puffing and lightening, and the results lasted much longer than a lot of other products.  As the normal application procedure is to use the system before make-up, it doesn't cause the chunking and crease sinking you get with concealer alone.

I am a 63 year old grandmom - stlll selling real estate full time and need to look my best; Dark circles and puffiness have always been my biggest challenge - I think I have tried every concealer out there. I have taken very good care of my skin through the years - with the Opal, I'm hoping my eyes can "catch up" to the rest of my face!
